Overview

Why did you create momnt? 

People are growing tired of online dating.  Users download leading dating apps in hopes of finding romance, but that hope is often dashed by a growing list of disappointments.  Endless swiping, fake profiles, texts that lead nowhere, misleading photos, unmotivated users who are just bored and killing time… The list goes on and on.  There’s even an entire vocabulary to help define these shortcomings: ghosting, catfishing, and benching are all part of the online dating playbook.

At the same time it’s really difficult to meet people in real life.  We've all been there at some point in our lives. We're in the park, at the gym, or in a bar; we see a cute girl or guy; we desperately want to talk to them, but we can't muster up the courage. What if she has a boyfriend? What if he's not  interested? What if she thinks I'm creepy? The internal monologue continues until the opportunity slips away and we're left wondering what could have been had we seized the opportunity; had we seized the moment?

The fact is, most of us are intimidated by approaching one another and fear being rejected. So what if there were a way to know whether that girl at the gym or that guy in the park is available and interested?  What if there were a way to help us seize more moments like these in our everyday lives?

Well now there is. Momnt (pronouned "moment") is a mobile dating app that empowers singles to make real-life connections with real people in real places in real-time moments, opening up a new world of romantic possibility.

What is Momnt and how is it different from other dating apps?

Momnt was born out of a desire to improve the broken world of online dating by making it easier for people to meet in real life. With Momnt, it’s all about real people meeting in real places and sharing real-life moments.  Our goal is to empower users so that they can develop more meaningful and lasting personal connections with one another.

How does Momnt work?

Unlike other dating apps, Momnt revolves around real people meeting in real places and sharing moments in real-time.  So after you download the app and create a profile, you can use the map to discover different locations around the city and see how many other users are checked-in to those locations.  Locations can be anything from a coffee shop, a bar, a park, a bookstore or literally anything else listed on Google Maps.  So take your pick!

Once you arrive at your location, you can check-in and start engaging with other users checked-in to that location.   If you see someone you’re interested in, you can send a like or a special photo message (we call these “momnts”) to let them know you’re interested and ready to break the ice.

From there, it’s all about seizing the moment and going to talk to them. And don’t wait too long because your message history and the user’s profile all disappear when one of you checks out of the location!

Where can I download Momnt?

Momnt is available in your App Store and Google Play store!

Is Facebook the only way to sign up?

No! If you're a new user, you'll be able to register and login with either your phone number or your Facebook account.

Do I have to pay for Momnt now or is it free?

Momnt is free, and always will be!  We will have a few additional premium options in the future to help enhance your Momnt experience.

Using the App

What is a momnt?

A momnt is a photo message you can send to other users to let them know you’re interested and it’s the main way our users communicate with one another. It consists of a photo and an optional text caption.

How do I send a momnt?

You can send a momnt by clicking on the momnt icon at the bottom of any user’s profile.

Why is the momnt button not working?

You can only send one momnt to each user. If a user likes your momnt or sends you a momnt back, then the momnt button will be unlocked for you to send another momnt to that user. This helps us ensure the best user experience possible for all users.

How do I like another user’s profile?

You can like another user’s profile by simply double-tapping on it.

Why can’t I text message other users?

We may add this feature in the future depending on the feedback we get from our community, but for now we want to encourage users to go and say hello in real-life rather than relying on lengthy text message exchanges that often don’t go anywhere.

Where did all the messages in my inbox go?

The messages in your inbox are wiped clean every time you check-out of a location and you lose the ability to contact any users that you had messaged. This is keeping within the spirit of encouraging users to seize the momnt by meeting up in real-life rather than relying on lengthy virtual exchanges that often don’t go anywhere.

How do I get contact another user after one of us checks out of our current location?

You are not able to contact another user with the Momnt app after one of you checks out of your current location. That’s why it’s important seize the momnt and go say hello!

Why does the app say I’m too far away to check-in to a location?

You must be at the location you are trying to check-in to. If you are too far away, then Momnt will let you know that you must try again when you are closer.

Why was I checked out of my current location?

Momnt automatically checks you out when you leave your current location.

How do I delete my account? 

Go to Settings and select “Delete Account”. Please note: deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. If you ever decide to come back to us in the future (and we hope you do) you will have to start from scratch.

Momnt is for 18+ years. If you don't follow these guidelines, you'll receive a warning (unless our team decides to block without warning at our discretion). If you ignore this warning, you risk losing your account. These guidelines are designed to make Momnt a friendly and safe place for all our users.

Privacy and Safety

Do you post anything to Facebook?

We never post anything to your Facebook account, we never inform anyone you have joined, and we never publicly link your Facebook to your Momnt profile. We take your privacy very seriously.

What data do you get from Facebook?

We collect the bare minimum of data possible from Facebook. This consists of your public profile and email address.

Can other users see where I am?

The only time other users can see where you are is when you manually check-in to a location. For your privacy and safety, you are always invisible when you are not manually checked-in anywhere.  If you no longer want to be seen, you can simply check-out of your location by clicking the check-out button.

How do I stay safe?

Your safety is very important, and because you are in control of your Momnt experience, there are certain safety steps that you should follow while using the app. We ask you to read the tips below and strongly urge you to follow these guidelines in the interest of your personal safety and well-being. However, you are always the best judge of your own safety, and these guidelines are not intended to be a substitute for your own judgment.

How do I report someone?

You can report other users by emailing report@momnt.ca and providing your reason for reporting the user in question.
